Gorilla tracking is best done and enjoyed when you have at least three days holiday in Africa. This is because of the need to get prepare when you need to wear during gorilla tracking, book a gorilla permit, drive or fly to the gorilla tracking destination.
Gorilla tracking although can be done in two days, you may not exhaust all the fun you need to make memories. You need to put together a proper gorilla tracking itinerary inclusive of other activities but based on your available Africa holiday time.
The first Day
Most of the gorilla tracking destinations that is to say Bwindi forest National Park in Uganda and Volcanoes National Park In Rwanda are located in the remote parts of the respective countries. You need to get on the road to drive to these destinations or book a flying gorilla tracking safari with local domestic flights.
When you get there, you need to relax and put together your gorilla tracking gears. The next day requires you to get up early in the morning and head for gorilla tracking. No turning back after briefing. In order not to forget all you need while in the jungle, you need to organize everything in advance.
Waking up early for breakfast gives you time to finalize with all you need to make gorilla tracking memorable. Do not forget your packed lunch as the time of finding the gorillas is not known.
When at the ranger station, you get to meet other trekkers with whom you will share briefing from the rangers.
In groups of 8 you are given a gorilla tracking family and a ranger guide to take you through the forest walk.
You may have the chance of meeting other primates like olive baboons, black and white colobus, vervet monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey to mention but a few. Plenty of birds also linger in the forest. Carry a camera with you to take some pictures.
The time you get to find the gorillas is exciting and adrenaline stimulating too. Give a distance of about 7 meters away from the gorillas so that you avoid direct contact with them. Watch the gorillas go on with there day activities like feeding the infants, combing each other’s hairs, searching for food, grooming, playing from the vines to mention but a few.
When taking photos, try to use a sound proof camera with good focus too. Ensure you have carried a water proof bag to protect your camera from rain that might fall without warning. Avoid dropping any waste in the jungle or feeding the gorillas.
After one precious hour return to your lodge to relax or in case you are not so tired, you may join the Batwa pygmies on an optional cultural visit.
Third Day after Gorilla tracking
In case you do not have more time for your holiday in Uganda or Rwanda, you will drive to Entebbe Airport in Uganda or Kigali Airport in Rwanda to catch up with your home bound flight.

There is availability of a 2 Day gorilla tracking safari in Rwanda however you must have booked late night flights.
You may not have the chance of exhausting all the beauties that the Volcanoes National park has as your main focus is seeing the mountain gorillas.
This is also tiresome and leaves you quenching for more time with the mountain gorillas as they are adorable creatures to be close to.
Game drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park
Instead of crossing one border to another for game drives and then gorillas tracking, you can put together gorilla tracking and game safari in one country. Uganda is one of the endowed wildlife destinations in Africa with great scenery that prompted Winston Churchill to name it the Pearl of Africa.
After gorilla tracking, you may visit Queen Elizabeth National park which is home to variety of animals like lions, elephants, buffaloes, water bucks, warthogs, leopards, olive baboons, black and white colobus, to mention but a few.
A launch cruise on the Kazinga channel is one of the highlights of this park. You get the chance of identifying a great number of birds that flock the shore. A big number of animals move to the channel to quench thirst. The scenery of absolutely amazing.
The park enjoys the back drop of the Rwenzori ranges that are snowcapped and form a great high wall.
Game drive in Murchison Falls National Park
In order to see the world’s strongest water falls, you can book a game safari to Murchison Falls National park in Uganda. During the game drive in this park, you may have the chance of seeing animals like the variety of Rothschild Giraffes, Jackals, lions, elephants, water bucks, bush bucks, leopards, chimpanzees,
During the launch cruise to the bottom of the falls, you may get to see the lots of hippos in the water, Nile crocodiles, plenty of birds on the escarpments to mention but a few.
As you draw closer to the falls, you feel a change in the turbulence of the boat as water vibrates. The River Nile water squeezes through a narrow gorge and bursts out to form cloudy appearance but at times a rain bow may appear too.
Chimpanzees tracking
Kibale national Park is home to the biggest number of habituated chimpanzees in Africa. After gorilla tracking, you have the chance to visit the chimpanzees too. This gives you the chance to physically get the difference between the mountain gorillas and the chimpanzees.
So many other primates like the blue monkeys, black and white colobus, red tailed monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey to mention but a few.
The source of River Nile
Uganda is the source of River Nile which is the longest river in Africa. The drama displayed at the actual spot where River Nile departs from Lake Victoria leaves wondering what actually happens below this point.
You can visit the Itanda water falls for white water rafting too. The tides on these falls are extra ordinarily lovely and nice to be close too.
