How Long Is Gorilla Trekking in Uganda

The gorilla trekking safari in Uganda may take from 30 minutes to more depending on factors prevailing in the wilderness.

Locating the mountain gorillas may take sometime but tourists are encouraged to keep their spirits high and revert the focus to other interesting forest dwellers that come your way. Sometimes the mountain gorillas change their known location due to circumstances in the forest but you still find them.

Along the way, you may come across other primates, several birds, naturally thriving plants, sparkling water falls and more.

DAY 1 – Drive to Bwindi national Park


Our Uganda safari guide will pick you from your overnight hotel and drive you to southern western Uganda the home of the Mountain gorillas. Mountain Gorillas live in the southern part of Bwindi and are some of the survivors of the ice age period.

They have a black coat that covers there entire body and walk by knuckle walk. The time you may take on the way from Kampala/ Entebbe to Bwindi is about 8 t0 9 hours driving through the hilly Kigezi topography. Arrive late in the evening and check in.

DAY 2 – Gorilla Trekking


Wake up early in the morning from breakfast carry your packed lunch, Poncho, Garden Gloves and other gorilla trekking clothes. Head to the ranger station for briefing and later the ranger guide will lead you into the forest to search for the gorillas.

The way is quite tedious as you walk passed the creeping foliage and the huge tree trunks. Gorillas are normally busy through out the day searching for food and other juicy fruits. Your ranger guide is ready to provide you with the details of the forest and its inhabitant. Monkeys will call out on you from the tree Branches.

Finally you get to face the gorillas but you have to ensure that you do not agitate them. Watch the young ones as they play from the vines, mothers feeding there infants and so many other. You have just one hour in there presence so utilise it to the fullest. Return to the lodge and relax.

DAY 3 – Drive To Kampala.


Early in the morning, enjoy your breakfast and drive to Kampala. Enroute, have a stopover at the equator to perform the water experiment and take photographs while standing on both sides of the earth at the same time. Arrive late in the evening and check in at your Hotel or lodge:

DAY 4 – White water Rafting.


After breakfast, your driver guide will take you to the congregation spot of the white water rafting crew or drive you as an option. The drive is between 2hrs and 30 minutes enjoying the view of the luxuriant Mabira forest which is one of the still serving natural forests of Uganda.

Jinja is also the source of the famous Nile which is the longest river in Africa serving Uganda, South and Northern Sudan and Egypt. Peddle the undulating tides enjoying the water and view the interesting birds. Late in the evening, return to Kampala to catch up with your late night flight.
