Best time to do gorilla trekking , chimpanzee trekking and game safari for 8 days in Uganda
Although gorilla trekking is open all year, the most amazing season is the dry season when temperatures and other conditions favour moving in the jungle. The dry season in Uganda normally is June to September, December to January when more sunlight sips through the dense forests canopy
The mountain gorillas and chimpanzees spend more time closer to the ground because supplies up in the canopies are highly competed for with other primates yet they are meagre. DAY 1 – Arrival at Entebbe Airport
On arrival at the airport, our safari driver will pick you and transfer you to where you are going to spend the night.
In case arrive early in the morning, you may have optional day trips like a visit to Ngamba chimpanzee Island, Uganda wildlife Education Centre (UWEC), Kampala or Entebbe city tour at a subsidised rate. Check in to your hotel

DAY 2 – Drive To Bwindi National Park
Early in the morning, our safari driver will pick you from the airport and drive you to Bwindi Impenetrable National park the famous home of the left over mountain gorillas in the entire world.
The forest is luxuriant, thick with picturesque canopies. Although the drive is long, it is decorated with rolling hills, meandering rivers, unique birds, primates like baboons, vervet monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, local farm lands, friendly people to mention but a few.
Get there late in the evening and relax in preparation for your gorilla trekking tour

DAY 3 – Gorilla trekking
After breakfast, carry your gorilla trekking gears, water, packed lunch because you are not sure of your return time and head to the ranger station. The Uganda wildlife authority ranger guide will take you through the procedures of gorilla tracking and the rules that you must follow will you search for the gorillas even when you are with them.
Later move into the forest with your ranger guide and he will tell you more about the forest as you move on. The time of meeting the gorillas is unpredictable depending on there movement. Your voices must be low because they are terrified by strangers.
While in there presence, wait for the ranger guide to instruct you to take there photos. He has to first observe there mood. Take there pictures and after an hour return to the lodge and relax.

DAY 4 – Drive to Queen Elizabeth National park
Take breakfast early in the morning and drive to Queen Elizabeth national park. This is the home of the famous tree climbing lions a, Rwenzori rangers, variety of animals and birds to mention but a few.
In case the weather conditions are fine, you will pass through the Ishasha sector and enjoy a game drive however in case of bad weather, you have to use an alternative way.
Enjoy the game drive where you may have the chance of seeing animals like tree climbing lions, water backs, bush backs, elephants, buffalos, leopards, and variety of birds. Get to your lodge and check in.

DAY 5 – Game Drive and Launch Cruise
Rise up early in the morning for breakfast and enjoy the game in the northern crater area of the park. This place is punctuated with both dry and wet crater lakes, may have the chance of seeing lions, elephants, antelopes, buffaloes, and a variety of birds.
Return for late day breakfast and after lunch head to the pier for a lunch cruise. This is the congregation ground for birds, herds of buffaloes, elephants and so many others. This is a scenic spot and one of the highlights of this park. Get back your lodge for dinner and breakfast.

DAY 6 – Drive to Kibale National Park
After Breakfast, drive to Kibale National Park which is home to the biggest number of chimpanzees in Uganda. Enjoy the scenic view of the natural forest and the enchanting primate species that are common to this forest. Dinner and overnight at;

DAY 7 – Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi Swamp walk
Having taken breakfast, head to Kanyanchu ranger station for briefing. Begin the chimpanzee search. Chimpanzees are the closest cousins to humans because they are composed of 98.7% human genes.
They live in communities that are headed by the Alpha male who is democratically chosen not based on age but capability. They may get to see you before you see them so you need to follow the precautions and regulations given to you during briefing.
Return to the lodge for lunch and take a walk to Bigodi for a birding walk, view the exciting birds that roam around the swamp. Take there photos and return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
DAY 8 – Return To Kampala.
After Gorilla trekking, wildlife and chimpanzee safari, head to Entebbe for your return flight.

Rules Of Gorilla Trekking And Chimpanzee Trekking In Uganda
Never move in the forest for gorilla trekking or chimpanzee trekking without an escorting ranger guide
Volunteer to stay behind in case you catch a communicable infection like flu, cough and others as these can be passed to the highly susceptible primates.
Wear the right gorilla or chimpanzee trekking gears like garden gloves, long sleeved shirt, convertible trousers, safari boots and more
Avoid spitting on the ground or grass during gorilla trekking and chimpanzee trekking in Uganda
Provoking the mountain gorillas or chimpanzees is forbidden as this may cause them to rage.
Feeding the mountain gorillas or chimpanzees is forbidden because they are wild animals that must not depend on human supplies but the forest.
Maintain 8 meters gap from the mountain gorillas or chimpanzees and even when they bridge the gap, move backwards stealthily in order not to be suspected by these primates.
On hour with the mountain gorillas or chimpanzees is allowed to enable these primates continue with the day’s routine.
Staring in the eyes of the mountain gorillas or chimpanzees is forbidden as this makes them feel shy and suspicious which may push them into hiding.
Keep closer to the to other trekkers in order not to make the mountain gorillas or chimpanzees feel suspicious.

A waterproofed backpack is vital for your camera because it may rain at any time without warning, water bottle to quench your thirst as you trek to see the mountain gorillas and snacks.
