Day 1 Drive To Volcanoes National park In Rwanda
A driver guide will pick you from where ever you spent the night and drive you to Volcanoes National park. Enjoy the scenery you drive through on the way, make stop overs to take photos and proceed to Volcanoes National park.
Check in to your lodge for overnight.
Pack the right gorilla trekking gears and wear the appropriate jungle friendly attire before heading for the ranger guide station for briefing. Do not forget to carry drinking water as you need to rehydrate on the way. A mask is a must just not to risk chances of passing any infections to the mountain gorillas. They have about 98.4 human genes.
Follow the ranger guide and try keeping in touch with the rest of the group. Lagging behind may delay the rest of the group as they have to search for you in case you get lost in the thick jungle. Watch out for other exciting primates like pottos monkeys, blue monkeys, vervet monkeys, red tailed monkeys and others.
Watch out for amazing rivers that cross the forest, unbelievable water falls, numerous birds, huge tree trunks usually covered by green lichen that tale the long life the forest has existed. In case you are tired, ask for a push from your porter or request the ranger guide for a break.
Do not dump any wraps in the forest because it alters the nature of the forest which is the main food provider for all primates that it hosts.
Meeting the mountain gorillas is the ultimate goal for your experience but try not to show freight the first glance. They are very observant creatures especially the silverback which is the overall security controller of family affairs. Keep your hands off the infants as these are keenly protected by the entire family.
The first face to face meeting with the gorillas may rise your adrenaline but try to take control. Stay close to your trekking group and follow the gorillas as directed by the ranger guide. Keep a distance of about 8 meters apart from them so that they do not get agitated by your presence. Watch the family and take photos with a sound proof camera.

After gorilla trekking, head for golden monkey trekking. These rare monkeys are some of the remaining in the world. They are charming monkeys that keep you on your toes while in the forest. There unique structure and golden fur that covers there bodies is epic.

Day 4 drive to Nyungwe National Park
After enjoying the mountain gorillas and golden monkeys, head for the chimpanzees. Chimpanzees are the closet relatives to humans composed of 98.7% human genes. Arrive ready to check in and enjoy the incredible forest feel. Listen to the birds of the wild that share this forest too.
Day 5 Chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe National park
After briefing, carry your chimpanzee trekking gears for briefing. Head to the forest with the ranger guide to search for the chimpanzees. These are mobile creatures so get ready to move with the forest flow.
Chimpanzees normally feed from the tree tops during severe rainy seasons and meander round the forest during drier months. Carry some energy bites to keep up with the mobile restless chimpanzees especially if you meet them during feeding time.
Watch out for other enchanting primates that share the forest like blue monkeys, red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus, grey cheeked mangabey to mention but a few. Return to the lodge to relax.
Day 6 Kigali city tour and departure flight
Why leave Rwanda without touring its city Kigali. Visit the genocide memorial where remains of the victims of the 1994 genocide are preserved, head to the Rwanda museum, get to city center building and so much more. Head to the Kigali Airport to catch up with your flight back home.
