Filming gorillas and chimpanzees in Uganda

In a bid to market and promote the conservation of mountain gorillas in Uganda and Rwanda, we assist filming crews including televisions, Radios, photographers and documentary productions to organise and fulfil the reason why they need to have the mountain gorillas life broad casted. We have created a relationship with the relevant Authorities that enable us to process all the required documents for filming gorillas, chimpanzees and other wildlife sceneries. Gorilla and Chimpanzee Filming Fees

Gorilla Filming

Gorilla or chimpanzee filming has a standard fee from the Uganda Wildlife Authority $ 4200 per day. This excludes the gorilla trekking permits per person in the crew. This fee is used to cover up any damages that may be caused as the crew tries to get a clear picture of the gorillas. This fee is also part of the funds that are used to support the survival of the endangered mountain gorillas.

Filming Chimpanzees

Chimpanzees in Uganda live freely in Kibale National park, Kyambura gorge, Kaniyo Pabidi and In Bwindi National park but these are not habituated. They can also be visited in Ngamba Island or Uganda Wildlife Education Center but these are just rehabilitation centers.

Chimpanzee filming at the moment costs $ 4000 per day including the park entry fees but excludes the chimpanzee trekking permit.

When you provide two copies of your edited collection to Uganda Wildlife authority, you are refunded a certain potion of money according to the UWA filming policy.

Gorilla and Chimpanzee Trekking permit

To get to the gorillas or chimpanzees in Uganda one needs a gorilla tracking permit. These are highly demanded and so you need to buy it way in advance of travel. It is mandatory for every filming crew member to have a gorilla or chimpanzee tracking permit. We book and buy gorilla and chimpanzee permits on your behalf plus the relevant accommodation that is close or with in the filming sector.

Filming Equipment or Kit Procedures

Most of the equipment that brings out the best shots may not easily be available in Uganda so the crew needs to import in these equipments to get the best pictures, photos, clips or video. This requires clearing the kit at immigration at all entry points like Entebbe Airport, Busia boarder point or any other clearing entry point in Uganda.

To facilitate this, we need to get the details of your Kit list including the item name, value, country of origin, serial number in case of tracing it, Bar code and the weight.

Filming Media Cards

In any country, the media council need to know about the international press crew that would like to collect information from with in. The media cards are a permit to do this work. We process and collect media cards from Uganda Media Council on behalf of our clients. We need your details that is to say Names, country of origin, Birth Place, Home address, organisation, purpose of visit, intended days of stay, a scanned copy of your passport and a passport photo that can be used to make the cards that will identify you as journalists for the period you are in Uganda.

Penalties for off Tracking During Filming Mountain Gorillas

At times the mountain gorillas move into the deeper points of the forest which may require you to go off track during filming, however this may attract some small extra fees.
