Chimpanzees are made up of about 98% of human genes so they need to be protected from catching Corona Virus. When they are infected by some of the human communicable diseases, they may fall ill and others may even die. Chimpanzees are some of the closest relatives of human beings in the animal Kingdom so making them vulnerable to human infections. For this reason, during briefing before chimpanzee trekking, you are requested to volunteer to stay behind in case you have a contagious infection.
Kibale Forest National Park
Uganda is one of the renowned homes of huge numbers of Chimpanzees. Kibale Forest National park is the biggest home of the habituated chimpanzees in Africa. Chimpanzees live in communities under the leadership of an Alpha male. He is democratically voted by the community and the possible candidates have to show there capability to defend the community. The female have a lot to influence during this activity.
Queen Elizabeth National Park
Kyambura gorge in queen Elizabeth National park and Kalinzu Chimpanzee conservation centre are some of the other chimpanzees’ homes. Visiting them requires you to have booked a chimpanzee trekking permit. You need to have some fitness to get to the chimpanzees that live in the gorge.
Murchison Falls National Park
Within Kaniyo Pabidi forest are chimpanzees that roam in the forest. They have been habituated to be viewed by tourists and it is one of the most interesting area to visit. Numerous species of primates also live in this forest like the black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey, blue monkeys, olive baboons and so much more. Numerous birds are also residents of this forest.
Bwindi Forest National Park
Although this is a gorilla tracking park, chimpanzees are also residents in this park. They live in the deeper ends of the forest however they are not habituated for tourists viewing
Nyungwe National Park
This chimpanzee habitat is in Rwanda. The chimpanzees were habituated to be in the presence of humans for just one hour. A number of other primates roam the park like black and white colobus, vervet monkeys, grey cheeked mangabey, blue monkeys, golden monkeys and so much more. You may also participate in the habituation activity at an extra cost. The environment around is nice and refreshing away from the town hassle. This is also the haven for birding in Rwanda.
Chimpanzee Trekking In Uganda Itinerary
You will go chimpanzee tracking in Murchison Falls National Park and Kibale National park. You may also have the chance of meeting others primates like the olive baboons, vervet monkeys, red tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys and so much more. Include a game drive and launch cruise to spice up your African safari.
Day 1 Drive To Murchison Falls National Park
Rise up early in the morning for breakfast and your driver guide will pick you from your overnight hotel. You will drive through the lush vegetation of Masindi then continue to Ziiwa Rhino Sanctuary where Rhinos area being rehabilitated in Uganda. They were wiped out by the civil wars in Uganda and others were poached for there horns. Enjoy a game drive as you enter the park. Check into your lodge
Day 2 Chimpanzee tracking in Kaniyo Pabidi
Early in the morning, you will be driver to Kaniyo Pabidi the chimpanzee trekking area of this park. You will follow the chimpanzees right from de-nesting to doing the activities of the day. On the way, you may have the chance of seeing other primates like the olive baboons, vervet monkeys, black and white colobus. Later you will return to the lodge to relax
Day 3 Game drive and launch cruise
Include an amazing game drive to your Uganda safari to see the chimpanzees. Early in the morning, you will be driven to the Northern banks of River Nile which is home to majority of wildlife in Murchison Falls National park. Some of the animals you may get to see include prides of lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, warthogs and so much more.
After lunch, head to the pier for an amazing launch cruise to Murchison Falls. This ride is entertaining as you get to see several animals by the banks of the river like herds of elephants, schools of hippos, Nile crocodiles basking to mention but a few. As you draw closer to the falls, you will feel a change in the turbulence of the boat. You will see foamy appearance on the surface of the Nile. Finally get closer to the point where the drama happens. Take photos and watch how wonderful this happens.

Day 4 Drive to Kibale National Park
Kibale is the biggest home of habituated chimpanzees in Africa. Drive through Hoima and arrive in the late afternoon.
Day 5 Chimpanzee tracking
Get up early in the morning for a chimpanzees tracking experience. You will be briefed about how to behave while with the chimpanzees. Together with others trekkers, follow the tails that were constructed by regular visitors. You may get the chance of seeing other primates like black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, red tailed monkeys to mention but a few. A number of birds are also residents of this park including the shoebill stock that may be see in the Bigodi wetland. Return to the lodge and relax.
Day 6 Return To Entebbe Airport
Having enjoyed the company of the chimpanzees, drive back to Entebbe Airport to catch up with your flight back home.
