What happens during Gorilla habituation Africa Safari
Most people enjoy gorilla trekking which has strict rules of staying with the gorillas for just one hour but gorilla habituation is a four hours experience with roaming gorillas.
During gorilla habituation, together with a group of experts you follow wild mountain gorillas in order to make them get accustomed to human presence
If you had a chance to play hide and seek as a child, this is similar to that. Wild mountain gorillas are very shy primates that keep hiding away from intruders and it requires patience.
You meet a lot of resistance from the dominant silver back as he feels he has the mandate to protect his family from forest strangers.
Normally tourists are given chance to do gorillas habituation with wild gorillas in the last stage of habituation getting them used to humans. This is because in the first stage, gorillas are very timid and shy.

How To Pack For Gorilla Habituation In Uganda
Tracking boots that are terrain resistant are comfortable for one interested in gorilla habituation in Uganda. The jungle is a little rough and since most of the wild gorillas live in the deeper ends of the forest, you have lots of obstacle challenges to meet.
A rain gear is good protection from dripping water from the large leaves, unpredicted rain that falls without warning.
A light water proof bag to protect your belongings from getting wet or scattered in the forest when you happen to slide.
Camouflaged wear that hides dirt as the jungle is boggy and sometimes you may slide and fall.
Insect repellant because you are going to take a lot of time in the jungle where stinging nettles are residents too.
A sound proof camera to protect memories of your exceptional gorilla habituation experience.
Face masks are a must as this is the new normal to protect yourself from the corona virus. This also protects the gorillas from getting the virus from humans.

Day 1: Road Trip to Bwindi Forest For Gorilla Trekking
Having taken your breakfast, your driver guide will pick your from your overnight hotel and drive to Bwindi Forest.
The drive is very scenic with stops like at the Equator, Mpambire Drum village depending on the time available.
Enjoy lunch enroute and arrive late in the evening to relax and overnight at your accommodation.

Day Two: Gorilla Habituation in Bwindi Forest National park
Carry your Packed Lunch, Masks, Sanitisers and other gorilla trekking gears, head to the ranger station for briefing. You are advised on how to behave while following and searching for the gorillas.
Enjoy the enchanting monkeys that pass by like black and white colobus, blue monkeys, vervet monkeys to mention but a few.
Finally when you meet the gorillas, follow the instructions from the experts like sitting with them, watch them groom there infants, feeding and so much more.
Have a little patience as habituating gorillas requires a lot more time because they are not yet fully used to human presence. This may take between 3 hours to 4 hours following and siting amongst the gorillas.
Retreat to your lodge to relax after an enjoyable but tiresome event.
Day 3: Drive To Entebbe
Get up early in the morning and drive to Entebbe arrive late afternoon and check into your hotel or guest house.
Day 4: Visit Ngamba Chimpanzee Sanctuary.
