Gorilla trekking in Uganda for 5 days is one of the rewarding safaris getting you a chance to stand at least 7 meters away from the giant apes the Mountain gorillas. Gorilla Trekking in Uganda is best done in Bwindi National park although even Mgahinga National Park is a habitat for mountain Gorillas. This park is composed of several mountain gorilla families but about 10 gorilla trekking families have been habituated for tourism purposes. Itinerary

DAY 1 – Ngamba Chimpanzee Sanctuary Visit

Early in the morning enjoy a cup of coffee at your overnight hotel and head to the pier for a cruise to Ngamba Island. This is the closet chimpanzee sanctuary where orphaned, rescued and abandoned chimpanzees are given a new home since they cannot return to there original families. Participate in feeding them at the platform and in case you passed through immunization procedures, enjoy a hand in hand walk with the chimpanzees. Return to the land and visit the Uganda wildlife education center where a number almost all wild animals in Uganda are kept in exhibits. Enjoy a guided walk in UWEC and return to your lodge and relax.

DAY 2 – Fly to Bwindi Forest National Park

Having taken your breakfast you will be driven to Entebbe Aitport or to Kajjansi Airfield for your flight to Kihihi Airstrip then have a transfer to Bwindi forest National Park the renowned home of the mountain gorillas. Arrive and relax at the lodge or enjoy a visit to the Bwindi Hospital or enjoy a forest walk, if you are a birder, you may have the opportunity of spotting some birds. Enjoy later dinner and over night

DAY 3 – Gorilla trekking In Bwindi National park

Early in the morning, take your breakfast and carry your parked lunch to the ranger station for briefing. Expect to meet other tourists for briefing and later you will be divide into groups of 8 people who will get the chance to meet the mountain gorillas. In the company of your ranger guide, walk into the forest to search for the gorillas. On the way, you may have the chance of meeting other primates like the black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, vervet monkeys, olive baboons to mention but a few. The time you may take to see the gorillas is unpredictable because of there unpredictable movements, conditions of the day and proximity of there food. When you finally meet them, take there photographs and after an hour, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 4 – Drive to Lake Mburo National Park and Game drive

After gorilla trekking, head to Lake Mburo National park. This drive may take between7 to 8 hours. Lake Mburo National Park is the closest to Entebbe only one where you can see animals like Zebras, impalas and several others. Enjoy a game drive as you get into the park you may have the chance of enjoying rich avian life , colorful butterflies, zebras, water bucks, bush backs to mention but a few.

DAY 5 – Boat drive, Game drive and return home

Enjoy a boat cruise on lake Mburo which is the largest lake within a national park them return for breakfast and a game drive later where you may have a chance of seeing Impalas, water bucks, bush bucks, zebras to mention but a few and drive to Entebbe airport to catch up with your home bound flight. You must have booked a late evening flight back home.

A waterproofed backpack is vital for your camera because it may rain at any time without warning, water bottle to quench your thirst as you trek to see the mountain gorillas and snacks.

If not sure of your fitness, you may hire a porter for a small fee to carry your backpack and help you up the steeper slopes.
