Itinerary

DAY 1 – Flying to Bwindi forest for gorilla trekking

If booked on a morning scheduled flight, get up early in the morning for breakfast and transfer to Entebbe or Kajjansi Air Strip to check in for your morning flight to Bwindi forest National Park.

If booked on the afternoon flight you need to be at the airport of Airstrip at least an hour prior to departure for check in. You need to know that at times these flights may require you to move earlier than the schedule if there is a stopover at Kisoro to drop clients. The flight is approximately one hour and a half.

You will be met by a driver who will transfer you to your lodge. If you wish to get busy the entire day, you may ask for optional tours like a village visit to the Bwindi hospital, visit the homesteads close by learn about there daily activities.

You may also enjoy a forest walk where you may have the chance of meeting primates like ververt monkeys, chimpanzees, grey checked mangabey, black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys, olive baboons and so many others. Return to the lodge and relax

DAY 2 – Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Forest National Park

Gorilla trekking is the main activity for this day so you must remember to carry packed lunch, gorilla trekking gears, before heading to the ranger station for briefing. the Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger will take you through the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking like what to do when with the gorillas, how to treat the animals, when to eat while in the jungle, what to carry while searching for gorillas and several others.

Begin the trekking into the forest to search for the mountain gorillas. Following the path where they were last seen the previous day, get into action but your patience if highly required as the gorillas are very mobile while they search for food. The ranger guide will move at the pace of the slowest person to ensure that everybody enjoys what they have paid for.

Since they are the masters of this jungle, they will notice your presence before you do get to see them so you need to lower your voices. When you are finally with them, wait to take there photographs and wait for instructions from the ranger guide.

As you take photographs to remind you of this sought after encounter with the mountain gorillas, you must use a flash less camera because they easily get agitated by light. Watch the family interact with each other. You are permitted to stay with them for just one hour and get back to the lodge and relax.

DAY 3 – Fly back home after gorilla trekking tour

Having accomplished your dream, fly back to Entebbe to catch up with your home bound flight. This flying gorilla trekking safari is one of the shortest African Safaris and yet rewarding.

A waterproofed backpack is vital for your camera because it may rain at any time without warning, water bottle to quench your thirst as you trek to see the mountain gorillas and snacks.

If not sure of your fitness, you may hire a porter for a small fee to carry your backpack and help you up the steeper slopes.
