DAY 2 – Gorilla Tracking Day

Rise up for breakfast and get your gorilla tracking gears on your back ready for briefing. Do not forget to wear a mask and carry some extra in case it gets dirty.

Enjoy the drama in the forest as you may get to listen to the hymns from whistling birds, enchanting monkeys, adorable butterflies flies and so much more.

Follow the trails created by visitors but use the route that goes to where the gorillas were see the previous day. It is best to be close to the ranger guide and follow his instructions so that you are not lost in the vast forest.

The ranger guide normally follows the pace of the slowest trekker but try to move and not delay the entire team as the more you delay the more you loose out on the fun.

It is also tiring and wearing out the entire group if one keeps lagging behind. The time of meeting the gorillas is actually not known because they keep moving while feeding on grass.

Finally the golden moment to meet the gorillas comes but to exhaust every minute responsibly. This is because anything that irritates the gorilla that you do may send them into hiding. This will deny the entire group chance to experience the full attention of the mountain gorillas.

You have one precious hour to watch, take photos and observe the gorillas. You may have the chance to witness mother gorillas feed there infants, grooming of the young, plating juveniles. The silverback is always keenly watching over the family.

On return, walk slowly back to the ranger station for your gorilla tracking certificate.

Drive to Kigali Air Port to catch up with your return home flight.
